Browns Hope Jerome Ford Will Be Ready For Week 1
1 year agoCleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said running back Jerome Ford (hamstring) won't practice at training camp this week. However, Ford is making progress and the hope is that he'll be ready for the Sept. 10 regular season opener. When healthy, the 23-year-old is set to serve as Nick Chubb's primary backup this season, which will at least make him a handcuff option in fantasy drafts. Behind Ford, the Browns have Demetric Felton, John Kelly, Hassan Hall and Jordan Wilkins in their RB room. Ford, a fifth-round pick in 2022, was limited to mostly special-teams work as a rookie as a kick returner. He carried the ball just eight times for 12 yards in 13 games and didn't see a target in the passing game.
