Henry Davis Sitting In Matinee Game
1 year agoPittsburgh Pirates rookie catcher/outfielder Henry Davis is not in the team's starting lineup for a Wednesday matinee affair against the New York Mets. Connor Joe will make the start in right field and will hit fifth in the order against Mets right-hander Tylor Megill. It's a good time for a day off for Davis, as he's gone just 15-for-88 (.171) with three home runs, four doubles, nine RBI, 25 strikeouts and 11 runs scored in 23 starts in the last 28 days. The 23-year-old former first overall pick in 2021 has struggled in his first taste of the big leagues this year, slashing just .222/.313/.352 with five home runs, eight doubles, 18 RBI, three steals and 24 runs scored in 48 games, but he's playing an everyday role in right field.
