Jonah Heim Takes Batting Practice
1 year agoTexas Rangers catcher Jonah Heim (wrist) took batting practice on Tuesday for the first time since he suffered a torn tendon sheath in his left wrist. The 28-year-old left-handed-hitting backstop also caught a bullpen session. Manager Bruce Bochy said it's possible that Heim will face live pitching as early as Monday, and he could return from the injured list to rejoin the active roster during the club's six-game homestand that starts next week. Heim is making great progress from a pretty serious injury, but he's expected to only hit from the left side once he returns. He's shown more power from the left side (13 of his 14 home runs), but he's been better from the right side average-wise (.324) than the left side (.269). Regardless, Heim should return to primary catching duties in Texas when he's healthy.
