Eduardo Rodriguez A Hot Commodity On Trade Market
1 year agoDetroit Tigers left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez is becoming the hottest trade chip on the market as contenders look around the league to upgrade their starting rotation by next Tuesday's deadline. Scouts from the Texas Rangers, Tampa Bay Rays, Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies and Arizona Diamondbacks have been keeping a close eye on the 30-year-old southpaw in his recent starts. He's been up and down in four starts since returning from a left index finger injury that landed him on the injured list from late May to early July. E-Rod had a 2.13 ERA in 11 starts before the injury. The biggest question is whether he plans to opt out of the final three years and $49 million of his contract at the end of this year. Most people expect Rodriguez to opt out to become a free agent this winter, especially if he finishes this season strong. Given his lengthy injury, he's a bit of a risk for teams interested in acquiring him.
