George Springer Goes On Paternity List
1 year agoThe Toronto Blue Jays placed outfielder George Springer on the paternity list on Saturday and recalled outfielder Nathan Lukes from Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move. Springer will miss the final two games of the first half of the season, but he'll be ready to roll next Friday for the start of the second half. With Springer away from the team on Saturday, Cavan Biggio will get the start in right field and hit fifth against Detroit Tigers right-hander Matt Manning. Springer has gotten off to a great start in July, going 9-for-29 (.310) with two home runs, a double, five RBI, a stolen base and six runs scored in six games. The 33-year-old finishes up the first half of the 2023 season with a .269/.330/.422 slash line, 13 long balls, 12 doubles, a triple, 39 RBI, 13 stolen bases and 52 runs scored in 87 games played.
