Jordan Montgomery Dealing With Hamstring Injury
1 year agoUpdating a previous report, St. Louis Cardinals left-hander Jordan Montgomery (hamstring) left his start early on Friday against the Chicago White Sox due to a right-hamstring injury, according to the team. Montgomery made it through 4 1/3 frames, allowing an earned run on three hits (one homer) while walking one and striking out five to lower his season ERA to 3.23. The good news is that the 30-year-old southpaw now has the All-Star break next week to rest up, so if the injury isn't too serious, he may not end up missing a start at all. In his first full year in St. Louis, Montgomery has been a bright spot for the last-place Cards, as he entered Friday's outing with a 3.28 ERA (3.48 FIP), 1.24 WHIP, 26 walks and 91 strikeouts in 98 2/3 innings over 17 starts.
