Cristian Javier May Not Pitch Again Before All-Star Break
1 year agoHouston Astros manager Dusty Baker said that the team doesn't have their starting rotation set for the series against the Seattle Mariners this weekend, and he's unsure if right-hander Cristian Javier will pitch again before next week's All-Star break. Javier's next turn in the rotation comes up on Saturday, but the Astros may elect to give him some extra rest after giving up 18 runs on 21 hits (four homers allowed) while walking six and striking out six over 10 2/3 innings in his previous three starts. The recent rough patch has raised the 26-year-old's season ERA to 4.34 (4.27 FIP), while he's also sporting a 1.21 WHIP, 25 walks and 82 strikeouts in 91 1/3 total innings over his 17 starts. Even if Javier does pitch this weekend, fantasy managers might want to take a pass on him.
