Jarred Kelenic Takes A Seat Against Lefty
1 year agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic will start on the bench on Wednesday with the team facing a left-hander on the mound. Dylan Moore will get the start in left field and will bat eighth in the lineup against Washington Nationals left-hander Patrick Corbin. Kelenic has fared well against southpaws in 2023, but the M's will take the opportunity to get him some rest with the team facing a lefty for the first time in 16 days. It's probably a good time to give the 23-year-old lefty hitter a day off, too, as he's hitting just .167 (12-for-72) in the month of May with 33 strikeouts in 21 games played. It has dropped his season line to .247/.326/.449 with 11 home runs, 17 doubles, two triples, 35 RBI, 10 stolen bases and 34 runs scored in 74 games. Kelenic will be back in there on Friday against the Tampa Bay Rays after an off day on Thursday.
