Jose Alvarado Completes His First Save Since Returning
2 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies left-hander Jose Alvarado has been nothing but dominant this year and continued that on Wednesday when he closed out the 4-3 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. He went one inning, allowing one walk and no hits while striking out one to earn his sixth save of the season and first since coming off the injured list on June 9. Over 17.1 innings this season, Alvarado has posted a 1.04 ERA, 0.87 WHIP, and 43.3% strikeout rate with just four bases on balls. Going forward, the 28-year-old will likely split closing duties with Craig Kimbrel, but he still has a ton of value, especially in save-plus-hold formats.
