Gary Sanchez Continues To Hit In San Diego
2 years agoSan Diego Padres catcher Gary Sanchez hit his sixth home run with the team on Tuesday in the win over the Guardians since he was claimed off waivers on May 29. The homer gave him the most home runs by a player in his first 13 games with the Padres. Sanchez is now hitting .255/.300/.681 in 50 plate appearances in SD after batting .195/.286/.392 in 1,096 plate appearances from the start of 2020 through his time with the Mets earlier this year. He's hitting .273/.360/.773 in 25 trips to the plate at Petco Park, and his three long balls at home this year are tied for second-most behind Fernando Tatis Jr. The 30-year-old backstop has gone 7-for-29 (.241) with four homers and 11 RBI in his last seven contests. It's unlikely to last, but Sanchez is taking advantage of the opportunity and is worth riding in fantasy until he slows down.
