Rashod Bateman 2023 Outlook: Faces Competition In Third Season
2 years agoBaltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman (foot) is looking to re-assert himself as a viable fantasy option heading into his third pro season. The former first-round pick suffered a season-ending foot injury in Week 8 last year, capping his final stat line at 15 catches, 285 yards, and two touchdowns. The 6-foot-1 wideout started out incredibly hot, totaling 34.7 fantasy points over his first two games, before quieting down and eventually injuring himself. Heading into 2023, Bateman is reportedly on schedule with his recovery and eager to get back on the field. However, when he does return to practice, it will be with added competition. The Ravens added Odell Beckham Jr. and Zay Flowers to a passing attack that already featured star tight end Mark Andrews, meaning Bateman's path to production won't necessarily be easy. With that said, he does have the benefit of knowing the system, which can't be said about Beckham or Flowers. He also flashed solid metrics when healthy last year, including a respectable 13.4 ADOT and 17.9 percent target share. Bateman's current ADP of 117 puts him at WR49, more than ten spots lower than RotoBaller's ranking (WR39). He's not a steal at his current price tag, but he's still worth drafting, especially as the Ravens have made it clear they would like to throw the ball more in 2023.
