Treylon Burks 2023 Outlook: Wide Range of Outcomes Alongside Hopkins
2 years agoTennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks had an up-and-down rookie season in 2022, catching 33 passes for 444 yards and one touchdown in 11 games. He missed six contests due to turf toe and a concussion but had a few flashes in the poor Titans' passing attack. The team lost Austin Hooper and Robert Woods in free agency but added DeAndre Hopkins just before training camp. Before Hopkins' arrival, Burks' competition for targets was mediocre and he had a path to a 25-percent target share in his sophomore campaign. With Hopkins in the fold, he's almost certainly locked into the WR2 role, but his efficiency could be improved mightily by a better overall offense and favorable cornerback matchups. Ultimately, Hopkins joining his former offensive coordinator Tim Kelly in Tennessee should mean the passing volume will increase from where the Titans have been over the last few seasons. The 23-year-old flashed in limited action last season, but it's unclear whether he's set to be a high-end NFL receiver. In addition, the aging trio of Ryan Tannehill, Derrick Henry, and Hopkins could be due for regression. All that said, Burks has one of the widest ranges of outcomes among all fantasy wide receivers. For fantasy managers who were high on Burks coming out of Arkansas, he'll be a cheap flyer outside the top-35 wideouts in preseason drafts.
