2 years agoToronto Blue Jays catcher Danny Jansen (groin) will undergo an MRI exam on his injured left groin, according to manager John Schneider. Tyler Heineman will be on the taxi squad if needed. The Blue Jays are comfortable with giving Jansen a day or two with Daulton Varsho as an emergency backup catcher behind Alejandro Kirk. Jansen injured his groin running to first base on Wednesday and had to be pulled, and he could very well be looking at a trip to the injured list. It's terrible timing for the 28-year-old backstop, as he has been heating up at the plate in his last 11 games, going 12-for-42 (.286) with four doubles, three home runs and 11 RBI. Kirk should handle most of the catching duties for however long Jansen is sidelined.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
