Danny Jansen Leaves Early With Injury Wednesday
2 years agoToronto Blue Jays catcher Danny Jansen (groin) left Wednesday night's game early against the Tampa Bay Rays due to left-groin tightness. Jansen departed the game after going 0-for-2 at the plate with one strikeout to drop his season average to .207. Alejandro Kirk, who would see more playing time behind the dish if Jansen were to miss any time with this injury, replaced him on Wednesday and also went 0-for-2 at the plate. The 28-year-old Jansen came into Wednesday's contest hitting just .210 (25-for-119) with seven doubles, six home runs and 26 RBI in 35 games, but he had come on strong of late with 12 hits in 40 at-bats (.300 average) with three home runs and 11 RBI in the last 10 games. Check back later for an update on the severity of his groin injury.
