Brock Purdy Will Be Cleared To Throw Next Week
2 years agoSan Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said that quarterback Brock Purdy (elbow) will be allowed to start throwing sometime next week. Purdy had surgery to fix a torn UCL in his right arm, and he remains on track to be ready for Week 1 of the 2023 regular season, barring any setbacks along the way. With Purdy out, Trey Lance and Sam Darnold are expected to split first-team repetitions in offseason workouts, but unless Purdy suffers a setback, he's fully expected to open the year as the starter under center after impressing in his rookie season in 2022. The 23-year-old played in nine regular season games (five starts) and completed 67.1% of his passes for 1,374 yards, 13 TDs and only four picks. Purdy should only be taken in two-QB superflex fantasy leagues.
