Alek Thomas Sent To Triple-A
2 years agoThe Arizona Diamondbacks optioned outfielder Alek Thomas to Triple-A Reno after Tuesday night's game and recalled right-hander Luis Frias from Reno in a corresponding move. Thomas will go down to the minors to work on things after beginning his second major-league season in poor form at the plate. In 39 games and 123 plate appearances, he has hit just .195 (22-for-113) with five doubles, two triples, two home runs, 10 RBI, three stolen bases, 14 runs scored, eight walks and 27 strikeouts. Making matters worse for the 23-year-old, rookie Dominic Fletcher has been red-hot for the Snakes since being called up at the end of April. Thomas should return to the desert sooner than later, but for now, he'll bid his time in the minors.
