Julio Rodriguez Dropped To Sixth In Batting Order
2 years agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez is starting in center field on Wednesday against the Texas Rangers, but he has been dropped to sixth in the batting order against right-hander Dane Dunning. Rodriguez has hit leadoff for the team in every other game he's played in this year, so this is a notable development as he continues to struggle at the plate after winning American League Rookie of the Year in 2022. The 22-year-old superstar is hitting just .204 (29-for-142) with six doubles, a triple, six home runs, 15 RBI, six stolen bases and 45 strikeouts in 34 games played. In the month of May he's been even worse, with just two hits and 11 strikeouts in 29 at-bats. With J-Rod in the six-hole Wednesday, shortstop J.P. Crawford is hitting leadoff for the M's.
