David Peterson Could Make Spot Start Tuesday
2 years agoNew York Mets left-hander David Peterson was supposed to start on Tuesday for Triple-A Syracuse, but that's no longer the case. He is traveling to Cincinnati in case the Mets need an emergency spot starter. Max Scherzer (shoulder) is currently listed as Tuesday's starter against the Reds, but he's still not 100 percent healthy. The 27-year-old Peterson hasn't fared well in his six starts for the Mets in 2023, but he could be a sneaky streaming play in deeper leagues if he gets the start for Scherzer on Tuesday. In 30 2/3 innings at the big-league level so far this year, Peterson has a 7.34 ERA (5.37 FIP), 1.56 WHIP, 10 walks and 36 strikeouts.
