Commanders Like Hendon Hooker In Second Or Third Round
2 years agoThe Washington Commanders believe in quarterback Sam Howell enough that it's unlikely they will trade up for a signal-caller in this year's draft, especially not into the top 10. It's also unlikely that they'd draft a QB in the first round, unless a top guy unexpectedly falls into their lap. Washington likes Tennessee's Hendon Hooker if he's still on the board in the second or third round. They are hesitant to give up a lot of draft capital and would rather use it to build the roster around Howell. If Howell fails in 2023, the Commanders can always try again next year around a new option under center. The 25-year-old Hooker is widely considered the No. 5 QB prospect this year behind Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, Will Levis and Anthony Richardson.
