Javier Baez Sitting On Wednesday Against Astros
2 years agoDetroit Tigers shortstop Javier Baez is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Houston Astros in the series finale. It's likely just a rest day for Baez, who hasn't been that great to start the 2023 season, going just 2-for-20 (.100) with an RBI, run scored, one walk and five strikeouts in five games played. Although the 30-year-old slugger saw his strikeout rate drop some in 2022, strikeouts remain a big part of his game and he's unlikely to suddenly become a batting-average asset for fantasy managers. Ryan Kreidler is starting at shortstop and hitting ninth on Wednesday against Houston right-hander Cristian Javier. Kreidler has only played in 30 big-league games heading into Wednesday's game, and he's gone 15-for-82 (.183) with one home run.
