Jarred Kelenic Has A Hit In His Return
2 years agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic (quadriceps) made his return to the team's Cactus League lineup and played left field on Thursday against the Cincinnati Reds and went 1-for-3 with an RBI, two runs scored, a walk and a strikeout in the 17-6 blowout win. Kelenic will be ready for Opening Day next Thursday and has been flexing his muscles this spring with a .410 average (16-for-39) with two doubles, two triples, four home runs, nine RBI, eight runs scored and three stolen bases in 15 Cactus League games. The 23-year-old has nothing left to prove in the minors, but he hasn't quite figures major-league pitching out in parts of two seasons, hitting just .168/.251/.338 with 21 home runs, 60 RBI, 11 stolen bases and 167 strikeouts in 558 plate appearances. Kelenic could be a classic post-hype sleeper in 2023.
