Alex Ovechkin Picks Up Two Points In Wednesday's Victory
2 years agoWashington Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin jumped back into the lineup with two points in Wednesday's 5-4 shootout win against the Sabres. After missing one game with a lower-body injury, the veteran sniper collected a power-play assist in the first period and scored his 37th goal of the season in the third. Ovechkin has been doing everything he can to keep the team in the playoff race, tallying five goals and five assists in his last eight games. The scoring surge has made him a point-per-game player again, with Ovechkin having picked up 64 points across 63 games. He will be desperate to avoid hitting the golf course early and should stay highly productive for as long as there is a chance to grab a postseason berth.
