Chris Sale Won't Start On Opening Day
2 years agoBoston Red Sox left-hander Chris Sale (wrist) won't start on Opening Day, which manager Alex Cora said was the plan all along. Cora also said there is "a good chance" that Corey Kluber will get the nod to kick off the 2023 regular season. Sale is one day after Kluber in the spring training rotation, so he's likely to get the ball in the second game of the regular season. The 33-year-old southpaw has been one of the most injured pitchers over the last few years, only making 11 starts (48 1/3 innings) over the last three seasons combined in Boston. The seven-time All-Star can still generate plenty of swings and misses when he's healthy, but the risk of injury has certainly made him less attractive to fantasy managers.
