Andrew Painter Going For Tests On Elbow
2 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies pitching prospect Andrew Painter (elbow) felt some tenderness in his right elbow and went for tests on Friday. The Phillies will know more on Saturday, so check back then for updates. The 19-year-old right-hander is extremely impressive and came into spring training with a shot to win an Opening Day rotation spot. Although the severity of his elbow issue isn't yet known, any injury is likely to drastically reduce Painter's chances of opening the 2023 campaign with the big-league club. Expect the Phillies to exercise extreme caution with the No. 6 overall prospect in baseball, per MLB Pipeline. The 6-foot-7 hurler has great command of his pitches, and his fastball touches triple digits. Fantasy managers in keeper/dynasty leagues should already know his name.
