Ravens Still Optimistic About Extending Lamar Jackson
2 years agoBaltimore Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said that he "continues to be optimistic" regarding a long-term contract extension for quarterback Lamar Jackson. The Ravens and Jackson continue to be involved in a standoff, and it's been reported that Jackson wants more than the $230 million guaranteed that the Cleveland Browns gave quarterback Deshaun Watson last year. The most likely outcome is that the Ravens use the franchise tag on Jackson to buy them a little more time to reach an agreement on a long-term extension, but that won't rule out another team making him offers or trading for him this offseason. The 26-year-old is going to get paid eventually, it's just a matter of whether it comes in Baltimore or elsewhere. He's also one of the best dual-threat QBs in the game, but injuries have taken a toll on him the last two seasons.
