Brock Purdy Expected To Have Surgery Next Week
2 years agoDr. Keith Meister told San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch not to be overly worried about lingering swelling in quarterback Brock Purdy's elbow. Meister postponed a Feb. 22 surgery to repair Purdy's torn UCL because there was still too much inflammation in the joint. He's tentatively scheduled to have surgery early next week. The delay will add another two weeks to Purdy's rehab as he looks to get ready for the 2023 season. There are now "a variety of time frames" in which Purdy could be ready, according to Lynch. The hope is that the 23-year-old will only need an "internal brace" repair, which would include a six-month recovery. But it's also possible he'll need a hybrid procedure that's closer to a full reconstruction. Either way, expecting Purdy to be fully ready by training camp this summer is too optimistic.
