Miguel Vargas To Be In Saturday's Lineup
2 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that infielder Miguel Vargas (finger) will be in the team's lineup for the Cactus League opener on Saturday, but "you can tell the Brewers he won't be swinging." Vargas still isn't cleared due to a finger injury, but the Dodgers want him to continue playing on defense. The 23-year-old suffered a hairline fracture of his right pinkie and still is not cleared to swing a bat in camp, but the Dodgers expect him to be ready by Opening Day at the end of March. Vargas is one of LA's best pure hitting prospects. He hit just .170 (8-for-47) with a homer, eight RBI and 13 strikeouts in his first 18 big-league games in his 2022 debut, but he could find himself as the primary second baseman in a stacked Dodgers lineup this year.
