Kyle Wright Expects To Be Ready For Opening Day
2 years agoAtlanta Braves right-hander Kyle Wright (shoulder) halted his normal offseason preparations for three weeks in January when he received a cortisone injection for a right shoulder injury. Wright has felt much better after the injection, though, even if he's slightly behind scheduled in spring training. The Braves have mapped out a plan for Wright to be ready for the start of the season, but he's still unlikely to make any Grapefruit League starts in the first couple weeks of action. The 27-year-old will likely need to make at least three spring starts in order to be ready on time. The former fifth overall pick was the only 20-game winner in baseball in 2022, which was great to see after he entered 2022 with a 6.56 ERA through 14 career MLB starts. Wright did it by ditching a slider for a curveball, while also making his two-seam sinker his second most-used pitch. He's RotoBaller's No. 39-ranked fantasy starter entering 2023.
