Bo Naylor 2023 MLB Outlook: Huge 2022 Sets Up Potential To Be A Fantasy Star
2 years agoLast year, Bo Naylor did himself no harm in restoring faith that he could be a regular fixture in the Guardians lineup for years to come. Across Double-A and Triple-A, Naylor hit .263/.392/.496 with 21 homers, 68 RBI, 73 runs and 20 stolen bases (118 games). That power-speed combo is enticing in fantasy, especially at the catcher position but it remains to be seen if Naylor does get regular work behind the plate for the Guardians. The fact they signed Mike Zunino this offseason suggests the Guardians don't see Naylor as an everyday catcher and his defense may well need more fine-tuning in Triple-A to begin the year as he currently grades out as a below-average defender. The Guardians value defense highly at the position so it would certainly make sense for them to further enhance his skills behind the plate before calling him up. But his 88 walks in the Minors last year will also hold Naylor in good stead moving forward and on a team that will be seeking a return to the playoffs in 2023. If Naylor rakes at Triple-A to start the season, it might not be long before he's called up. With an ADP of ~320 (22nd catcher), his 2023 fantasy value will be determined by playing time, but his bat certainly looks like it's ready to contribute.
