The Philadelphia Eagles had a 14-3 record during the regular season and earned the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs. In 2021, the team had a 9-8 record and finished second in the NFC East division. Part of the team’s success this year was the offseason addition of A.J. Brown.
After their first-round bye, the Eagles faced the New York Giants in the Divisional round of the playoffs. They had an impressive 38-7 win over their NFC East rivals. However, Brown had a quiet performance, totaling only 22 receiving yards in the win.
Philadelphia then faced the San Francisco 49ers with a trip to Super Bowl 57 on the line. Unfortunately, the 49ers didn’t have a healthy quarterback for most of the matchup. Meanwhile, Brown had another quiet performance in the victory, totaling only four receptions for 28 receiving yards.

What Did A.J. Brown Do This Season?
The star receiver started his career with the Tennessee Titans. Over his first three NFL seasons, Brown averaged 61.7 receptions on 98.3 targets for 998.3 receiving yards and eight touchdowns per year. More importantly, the former Ole Miss star had a disappointing 2021 season with a career-low 869 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
In the offseason, Brown wanted a new contract from the Titans. Instead, the team traded him to the Eagles on draft night. Philadelphia then signed Brown to a four-year extension worth $100 million.
The star receiver had a massive impact on the team in 2022. Brown led the team in receiving yards (1,496) and touchdowns (11). Furthermore, he made several impressive plays throughout the year, including last week against the 49ers.
Will A.J. Brown Win The Super Bowl MVP?
According to PointsBet Sportsbook, the star wide receiver is a long-shot Super Bowl MVP at +2800. However, he has the best odds of any wide receiver this year.
Over the past 16 Super Bowls, a quarterback has won the MVP award 11 times, including two of the past three years. However, a wide receiver has won the award in two of the past four years, including a year ago. Cooper Kupp was the eighth wide receiver to receive the award last year, totaling eight receptions for 92 receiving yards and two touchdowns in the win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Brown is unlikely to win the award. However, at 28-1 odds, the star receiver is a solid long-shot bet.
