What Draft Picks Do The Chicago Bears Own?

The Bears will have the top pick in the 2023 NFL Draft after ending the season with a 3-14 record.

Overall, the Bears have eight picks in the 2023 NFL Draft. However, they don’t have their second-round pick (32nd overall), as it belongs to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Chicago sent the pick to the Steelers for Chase Claypool at the trade deadline.

However, the Bears own the Baltimore Ravens’ second-round pick (56th overall), giving them three selections in the top 65 picks.

Who Could The Chicago Bears Draft In The First Round?

Chicago is in an excellent position. Alabama quarterback Bryce Young is the top prospect in the draft. Yet, the Bears don't need a quarterback, as Justin Fields is coming off an impressive sophomore season.

If Chicago doesn't trade the No. 1 pick, they will decide between Will Anderson and Jalen Carter. However, what if the team could trade down and still secure one of the two elite defensive players?

The Indianapolis Colts have the fourth pick in the draft this year. After years of rotating quarterbacks, the Colts reportedly want to draft their next franchise signal caller in this year’s draft. Chicago could flip first-round picks with Indianapolis and still get either Anderson or Carter with the fourth pick.

In this scenario, the Colts would take Young first overall. C.J. Stroud would go second to the Houston Texans, while the Arizona Cardinals would select either Anderson or Carter. Therefore, the Bears could take whichever defensive player is left on the board with the fourth pick.

While no deal is in place, Chicago should get a massive package of picks in return from the Colts. In 2012, the St. Louis Rams traded the No. 2 pick in the draft to the Washington Redskins for the No. 6 pick, the No. 39 pick, and a pair of future first-round selections. Washington selected Robert Griffin III with the second-overall pick.
