The New England Patriots were the face of the NFL during Tom Brady’s time with the team. However, they have struggled without the future Hall of Famer.
Over the past three years, the Patriots have missed the playoffs twice, including this year. Furthermore, they have finished below .500 twice during that span. New England hadn’t had a losing record since 2000 before their recent struggles.
While some thought Bill Belichick should be on the hot seat, the Patriots won’t move on from the future Hall of Fame coach this offseason. However, they will hire a new offensive coordinator after the Matt Patricia experiment horribly failed.

What Draft Picks Do The New England Patriots Own?
Following their Week 18 loss to the Buffalo Bills, the Patriots ended the season with an 8-9 record and missed the playoffs. They will have the 14th overall pick in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
It will be New England’s earliest draft selection since they took linebacker Jerod Mayo 10th overall in 2008. Ironically, Mayo is currently the inside linebackers coach for the Patriots.
Overall the team has eight selections in the 2023 NFL Draft. They have their first and second-round picks, plus an early third-round selection from the Carolina Panthers. The Patriots also have a pair of fourth-round picks and a trio of sixth-round selections.
Who Could The New England Patriots Draft In The First Round?
While the entire New England fan base and media are focused on whether or not Brady will return this offseason, the team has several more critical issues.
They should be one of the more active teams in the NFL this offseason, as the Patriots project to have over $30 million in salary cap space. However, New England has always done well drafting players.
Outside of pass catchers, the Patriots’ top need on offense is on the line. Offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn is a free agent in March. Meanwhile, Trent Brown could be a cap casualty as the team saves $11 million by moving on from the veteran.
If Northwestern’s offensive tackle Peter Skoronski is available when the Patriots are on the clock, he would be an excellent addition to the team.
Even after spending last year’s first-round pick on guard Cole Strange, New England has to improve their offensive line this offseason.
