Blue Jays Acquire Daulton Varsho From D-Backs
2 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays acquired catcher/outfielder Daulton Varsho from the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday in exchange for catching prospect Gabriel Moreno and outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr., according to sources. The 26-year-old Varsho should see significant time in the outfield with the move to Toronto, and the move to the American League East and a very hitter-friendly ballpark in a potent offense will all add to Varsho's fantasy appeal heading into next season. He hit .235/.302/.443 with 27 home runs, 74 RBI, 79 runs scored and 16 stolen bases in 531 at-bats in his first full big-league season in Arizona in 2022. He will still have catcher eligibility in 2022, but he'll likely lose it going into 2024. Still, Varsho's power/speed combination in Toronto's dangerous lineup looks extremely appealing in fantasy moving forward.
