Kenny Pickett In Line To Start In Week 16
2 years agoPittsburgh Steelers rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett (head) had cleared the league's concussion protocol and is in line to start in Week 16 against the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Eve on Saturday. Pickett missed the Week 15 win over the Carolina Panthers after suffering his second concussion of the year the previous week. But apparently he's cleared the protocols and will start this weekend, barring a setback at practice this week. The 24-year-old's return should be good news for tight end Pat Freiermuth, who didn't see a single target on Sunday, but it could be bad news for receiver Diontae Johnson, who had his best game of the year in Week 15 with Mitch Trubisky under center. Pickett, as expected, has been up and down in his rookie year, throwing for 1,797 yards, four touchdowns and eight picks in 10 games. He'll have some decent QB2 upside in a nice matchup against the Raiders on Saturday night. UPDATE: Pickett would have practiced in full on Tuesday if the Steelers had actually practiced, a clear indication that he's in line to start Saturday evening.
