Brandon Crawford Set To Switch Positions
2 years agoSan Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford has played 1,525 career games at shortstop in his career, but he's been informed that he'll be moving from the 6 after the team signed Carlos Correa to a 13-year, $350 million deal this week. The four-time Gold Glover has become the greatest shortstop in Giants history, but he won't be playing there in 2023. Crawford debuted in 2011 and has started at shortstop on Opening Day in 11 straight seasons, so the move won't be easy. It remains to be seen if Crawford will play third base or second base heading into next season. If at third, he could be the lefty-hitting complement to J.D. Davis, Wilmer Flores or David Villar. And at second, he could be the same in tandem with Thairo Estrada. Offensively, Crawford struggled with a .652 OPS and only nine home runs in 118 games.
