Jose Ramirez 2023 Player Outlook: A Top Overall Pick Once Again
2 years agoIt was another studly year for J-Ram (.278/.353/.512, 29 HR, 20 SB, 129 RBI), and he put that line up despite playing hurt for half of the year. A hand injury suffered in June undeniably affected his power production negatively, as he posted an uncharacteristic 5.3% Brl% from June 1st on (he was 9.8% prior). Being able to post a stud fantasy season while not even fully healthy is another feather in his cap; Ramirez has been a top-five fantasy player for several years now. In 2021, he hit 36 homers with 27 steals and a .266 batting average, which was one of the best fantasy seasons we have seen in recent memory. Ramirez did have surgery on his hand after the season, but he's expected to make a full recovery and be good to go for Opening Day. The five-category ability and the history of success we have seen make him an easy top-five pick in 2023, and the fact that the third base position is so shallow once again puts him in the running to be the number one overall pick in my book.
