Cubs Could Be Early Favorites For Koudai Senga
2 years agoThe Chicago Cubs have already courted Japanese hard-throwing right-hander Koudai Senga, who was a three-time All-Star in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball, according to agent Joel Wolfe. Wolfe also represents San Diego Padres starter Yu Darvish, the former Japanese star. Wolfe sees the Cubs as a natural fit for Senga, who won't be tied to a posting fee because the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks held onto him until their club control expired. NBC Sports Chicago's Dave Kaplan reports the Cubs are "very interested" in Senga. The 6-foot-2 pitcher has a fastball that touched 101.9 mph this year and also a plus slider that could make him successful right away in the States. The Boston Red Sox have also been linked to Senga, who is 29 years of age.
