2 years agoThe San Francisco 49ers defense got torched by Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, who won 44-23. Chiefs QB Mahomes threw for 423 yards and three touchdowns. JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling both went over 100 yards receiving. In all the Chiefs gained 529 yards on 58 plays and converted 6-out-of-9 third downs. The Niners defense has been beat up. DT Arik Armstead, CB Dontae Johnson, and DE Kemoko Turay were all inactive. But playmakers like DE Nick Bosa and S Talanoa Hufanga who were on the injury list did recover and were able to contribute—Bosa with a sack and Hufanga with a pick. The 49ers also recovered a fumble, but that was it for their fantasy points from impact plays. With 44 points allowed, they lost fantasy points on the scoring. The 49ers should be a top defense with the talent they have, but they have underperformed of late. The Chiefs offense is so strong, this week can be chalked up to a poor matchup.
