Ranger Suarez Will Start Game 1 Of NLDS
2 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies left-hander Ranger Suarez will start Game 1 of the National League Division Series against the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday. He'll be opposed by Braves left-hander Max Fried. The Phillies will go with right-hander Zack Wheeler in Game 2 on Wednesday, and he'll be opposed by Braves right-hander Kyle Wright. Suarez finished his fifth season with the Phillies by going 10-7 with a 3.65 ERA (3.87 FIP), a 1.33 WHIP, 129 strikeouts and 58 walks in a career-high 155 1/3 innings over 29 starts. He made five starts against the Braves in 2022, going 1-2 and allowing 13 runs (10 earned) on 23 hits while walking 12 and striking out 23 in 28 innings pitched. Suarez is hoping to bounce back after his last start in the regular season on Oct. 4 against the Houston Astros, in which he gave up six earned runs in just three innings.
