2 years agoToronto Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman (finger) has been tabbed to start Game 2 of the American League Wild-Card Series on Saturday against the Seattle Mariners as the team looks to avoid elimination, according to manager John Schneider. Gausman departed his final start of the regular season early due to a cut on his right middle finger, but he has recovered and will try to send the series to a deciding Game 3 on Sunday in Toronto. The 31-year-old made just one start against the Mariners in 2022 and allowed two earned runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out three in five innings while taking the loss. Overall, Gausman went 12-10 with a 3.35 ERA (2.38 FIP), a 1.24 WHIP and a 205:28 K:BB in 174 2/3 innings over 31 starts in his first year in Toronto.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
