2 years agoNew York Mets manager Buck Showalter said that outfielder Starling Marte (finger) won't return before Friday, which is the start of the wild-card series. "A little progress but not enough to think something is imminent," Showalter said. Newsday's Laura Albanese reports that Marte swung off a tee with both hands today, according to a team spokesman. "I don't think that got a real good return," Showalter said. Marte's current focus is pain/swelling management, and it still remains to be seen if he'll even be able to play in what will likely be the wild-card series for the Mets this weekend. Brandon Nimmo will continue to start in center field and serve as the team's leadoff hitter with Marte sidelined.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
