Spencer Strider Unlikely To Be Ready Before NLDS
2 years agoAtlanta Braves right-hander Spencer Strider (oblique) is expected to resume throwing again in the final days of the regular season early this week, but he's unlikely to be available before the National League Division Series that begins on Oct. 11. He first felt left oblique soreness in his Sept. 18 start against the Philadelphia Phillies and was put on the injured list when he continued to feel discomfort before beginning a side session on Sept. 23. The NL Rookie of the Year candidate has gone 11-5 this year with a 2.67 ERA (1.83 FIP), a 0.99 WHIP and a 202:45 K:BB over 131 2/3 innings and 31 outings (20 starts) this year. The good news is that after sweeping the division-rival New York Mets this past weekend, the Braves control their own destiny now as far as winning the NL East and getting a first-round bye in the playoffs.
