Nick Castellanos Not Starting Thursday
2 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos is not in the starting lineup on Thursday against the Chicago Cubs as the Phillies look to snap their four-game losing skid. Castellanos just returned from the injured list on Tuesday from an oblique injury, and he's gone 4-for-7 with four singles since his return, but the team will give him a day off heading into the weekend. It's been a disappointing year for the 30-year-old overall after he hit a career-high 34 home runs for the Reds in 2021, as he's slashing .269/.309/.399 with 13 long balls and 61 RBI in 130 games in 2022 for the Phils. Matt Vierling is getting the start in right field on Thursday and is hitting ninth against Cubs right-hander Javier Assad.
