Starling Marte Hoping To Return Next Weekend
2 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Starling Marte (finger) hopes to attempt to hit and throw again as early as Wednesday, and he's optimistic that he can return at least in time for the team's big three-game series against the Atlanta Braves next weekend. Marte is recovering from a fractured right middle finger. He tried to do baseball activities last week, but his finger was still too sore. The Mets would love to get the 33-year-old veteran back as they attempt to lock up the National League East division heading into the postseason. Marte had been productive across the board in his first season with the Mets before his injury, hitting .292/.347/.468 with an .814 OPS, 16 home runs, 63 RBI, 76 runs scored and 18 stolen bases in 466 at-bats.
