Nico Collins 2022 NFL Player Outlook: Ready To Emerge As The Texans WR2?
2 years agoHouston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins is attempting to win the No. 2 wide receiver job behind Brandin Cooks this summer. A third-round pick (89th overall) in 2021, Collins didn't have any big games as a rookie but showed some flashes down the stretch commanding his own fair share of red zone targets and air yards with Texans Quarterback Davis Mills. The 23-year-old finished with a modest 33 receptions for 446 yards and one touchdown. He was held back by poor QB play at Michigan and skipped his 2020 season due to COVID-19 before opting for the NFL Draft. Texans General Manager Nick Caserio traded for the former 4-star recruit out of Alabama on draft weekend 2021. Collins has impressive size boasting a 6-4 frame at 215 lbs. The question is whether he can put it together for an entire season. Currently, Collins' ADP is 237, and he isn't being drafted outside the deepest of formats. The Texans also drafted Alabama wide receiver John Metchie in the second round in 2022. Still, it remains to be seen if he will return immediately following a knee injury in the BCS Championship Game against Georgia. Collins has an FFPC ADP of 255 and is a player worth keeping an eye on all summer, as the rebuilding Texans will likely be playing in their fair share of shootouts this fall.
