D'Onta Foreman 2022 NFL Player Outlook – New Candidate for CMC Backup Role
2 years agoCarolina Panthers running back D'Onta Foreman flashed in Tennessee during Derrick Henry's absence in the second half of the 2021 season, which earned him a one-year deal in Carolina. The 26-year-old rushed for 566 yards (4.3 per carry) on 133 attempts and three touchdowns while catching 9-of-11 targets for 123 more yards over nine games, filling in for Henry. He joins a crowded Carolina backfield with Christian McCaffrey and Chuba Hubbard. Neither backup is particularly attractive thanks to a low-upside offense, but with CMC's injury history, someone will get a chance to contribute to fantasy rosters. Foreman ranked 24th in yards per touch (4.9) last season, so it's evident he still has some burst after his early-career lower-body injuries. If Carolina finds a way to upgrade its quarterback before the season starts, perhaps Foreman becomes a more valuable bench stash with upside. For now, he's going off the board as the RB53, which is well ahead of Hubbard (RB75). They both likely have just a good of a chance to land the primary RB2 role, so if you're taking a shot at this backfield, Foreman's price might be a tad too steep.
